Widget problem. The app would get 5 stars but downgrade to 2 because the widget doesn't upgrade, and the reload button doesn't work. On the plus side it is unbiased real news with excellent depth and scope..Edited review on 1-2-17...widget now doesn't display any news and it no longer let's you chose editions. Reuters took a 5 star program and lost all 5 stars
Not a bad application but could use at least one feature: customize news feed instead of having to go to menu and select categories of interest. Update: detest fact it constantly runs in background and consumes battery. Killing app is useless as it continuously restarts even with all notifications blocked.
Love the lack of requested permissions. Just news, presented fairly objectively (mistakes seem to stem from lack of expertise in the subject, rather than agenda). Sponsored articles and editorials are clearly marked, with neutral adjectives and minimal adverbs used. This makes the occasional in depth report more impactful. Updates pushing cross platform integration is in a nice balance, visible but not intrusive. Only because I'm assuming that the other services are similarly not pushy. Negatives, not liking the change in the widget, used to tap open an article and it would take you there directly, now it just opens the main app. Would also like the old version of tracking the feed instead of hot news. Still the best app out there, but the compromises for clicks is noticable and hope it doesn't go much further.
Reuters is constantly showing way to many negative articles of POTUS Trump, when there's way more important issues to be shared. I hate to see any media site take a political side, when news should be left up to the readers to decide for themselves. Been a fan since 2016, but the constant negatively has me saying peace, time to start looking for another news app!
FROM AN INTERNATIONAL USER looking for a good news app from the USA. This is the only USA news sourced app I would recommend - period. The adverts are unintrusive, the national and international coverage is broad. Thomson Reuters (the developer) plays up the financial/market coverage of this app, but the coverage extends to so much more. The only downside I find are this app constantly runs in the background (in older version of Android), even when notification & feeds are turned off; and it might be nice to pick the News Catagories the user wants to display (or hide), rather than be limited to doing so with just the 'general news' & 'financial news'.
App's third party advertisers have malware busting through multiple security protocols claiming my device is infected. Rueters should have extra protection involving their advertising.
